Website Design – Terms of Business
The following conditions are to be read in conjunction with our standard terms of business.
- At intervals throughout the design project, the client will be given opportunities to view and approve the ongoing developments. The client should take these opportunities to ensure that the developments are inline with the original requests/proposals and highlight required alterations (if any) at the development stage. These intervals are key to ongoing development and any significant changes that are requested at a later date (prior to or after moving to the live domain) may impede on the launch date and be chargeable.
- With some products, the client may require specific guidance and advice on exactly what product to build into the site, in this case, where this is given, this is guidance only and subsequent sales performance is the responsibility of the client.
- Unless otherwise stated with a given project, web hosting and email are the responsibility of the client. web-designers-liverpool will transfer the completed site to the clients hosting based on the hosting ftp details provided by the client. It is not the responsibility of web-designers-liverpool to set-up or facilitate the creation or correction of email and hosting accounts or support these services. A third party supplier may be suggested however the client would be responsible for these services. Guidance may be given if requested which may be chargeable.
- All images that are to be used on the site are to be supplied by the client and must be free from copyright. If web-designers-liverpool are requested to source images on behalf of the client, these are chargeable as they will be sourced specifically for the site in question to follow copyright guidelines.
- Any additional material that may be added at a subsequent date either by the client themselves, or a 3rd party, is the responsibility of the client and they should ensure the material is copyright free or unique.
- As agreed on issuing the design brief, the client may be responsible for providing web-designers-liverpool with certain components of the site i.e. images, text content, 3rd party affiliate links etc (non exhaustive list). The timely supply of these components may impact on the agreed timescales for completion which is thus out of the control of web-designers-liverpool.
- web-designers-liverpool will fully test the completed site for functionality prior to moving onto the clients live domain. It is however the responsibility of the client to also fully test the site prior to the site moving to the live domain. Any alterations / enhancements / developments once the site has moved to the live domain may be chargeable and deemed to be over and above the original design brief. The client requesting to move the site to the live domain is deemed to be acceptance that the site is complete and satisfactory. Also, we strongly urge clients to allow a thorough testing period on their own live hosting. All hosting systems differ and often issues arise due to these variances and therefore the host may require time to adapt accordingly.
- Clients may be provided with software and / or a website admin system enabling them to edit certain elements of the site themselves. In this case, basic instructions will be provided on how to use this software / admin system however it is the responsibility of the client to read any documentation provided and train themselves on how to use the software/system. Training and dedicated support is not included as part of web design, although available at a charge.
- Site performance is the responsibility of the client. The download speed of web pages / images / content etc, is not the responsibility of web-designers-liverpool and appropriate hosting should be used. The client should ensure that subsequently added images are of suitable files size and not hi resolution which will affect site performance.
- A website will generate little business unless it is marketed. Marketing / SEO or PPC is generally not included in the cost of website design unless otherwise stated, but is available as an option.
- If Pay per Click Google campaign set-up is being provided, this will be created to suit each website in question, therefore any subsequent page name / content changes to a website, once live, may impact on the Google PPC set-up. The correction of these changes is chargeable.
- Subsequent adding of tracking codes / HTML scripts etc may be chargeable.
- Intellectual property – all design concepts and coding used to create our websites are the property of web-designers-liverpool. Should a client wish to duplicate our work or use elements of our work, then they may do so only under written authority from web-designers-liverpool. Front and/or back end site duplication holds a re-licensing fee available on request.
- An initial deposit payment is required prior to commencement of all work, the balance being payable on completion prior to the site being moved to the clients hosting system. Late payment of balance will incur interest payable.
- Clients are responsible for adding and management of product pricing details unless advised otherwise.
- It is the clients decision on what product / products / properties to feature on the site unless web-designers-liverpool have been designated this role. Once the site/content has been approved, any changes to the products featured at a later date will be at an additional cost. It is the clients responsibility to ensure they are happy with the proposals at the outset.
- It is the clients responsibility to manage the product content accuracy at launch and in the future.
